Thanks for Gina

The “Thanks for Giving” food drive program was started by Gina Merry in the town of Lyman to help the local food pantry. Gina was Lyman’s assessor for many years.

 

In 2012, she suggested that the town hold a food drive on Election Day in November. 

The "Thanks for Giving" food drive was created for families needing a little extra help. 

 

Gina quickly coordinated the idea with the York County Food Pantry and arranged for a van to arrive Election Day morning.  She contacted people to volunteer for an hour or so, to wait by the van to collect the food and cash donations.  The food drive was a great success and Lyman has continued the tradition each year.
